Has anyone solved this yet? The post marked answer is totally useless.

Apr 28, 2015 Endpoint Compatability Issues on Windows 10. Installation, and deployment of Windows 10. If you are referring to Symantec Endpoint Protection. Installing SEP12 on Windows 10. It's a shame as I need SEP to use Windows 10 on my work network. Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.

Yeah so it worked for one guy, well it's not working for me and at least one other person. I upgraded a Windows 8. Western Front 1914 Game on this page. 1 Surface Pro 3 and SCEP was removed. Attempting to reinstall it fails with a compatibility error. The link in the error leads nowhere, there is 'no further information'. For me this is a must as our IT group requires SCEP for VPN access.

Did you upgraded to the latest build for Windows 10 TP? It is known issue and it should be resolved in final release of Windows 10, meanwhile, you have Windows Defender in Windows 10 which will protect you against malwares, the Anti-Malware engine is the same as SCEP but you don't have much management and remote control over it. Windows 10 is not for production environment so enterprise scenario are not fully supported.

Yes I'm running build 9926 with all Windows Updates applied. I do understand this is a preview and 'not for production use', but that is such a cop-out. If I'm willing to run it on my daily machine I'd think Microsoft would appreciate the risk I take and try and support me where they can. As I said SCEP is a requirement for me to VPN into my company.

So what you're saying is that my only recourse is to drop out of the tech preview and go back to Windows 8.x. That's not really what I want to hear. May be you should discuss it with your IT Administrator in your company. From protection point of view both SCEP and Windows Defender (in Windows 10 TP) providing the same Anti-Malware removal engine. The only different is that in Windows Defender, you IT department doesn't have management over your Anti-Malware. You could ask your IT Department to create exception policy to allow your access using VPN, when you are running Windows Defender. If your company using NAP policy to do this, as long as your Anti-Malware product (e.g.

Windows Defender) is updated and running, it should grand you the access. I appreciate the thought, but if you're at all familiar with a typical IT group what you're suggesting is like asking for a $1million. Never gonna happen. Policies like that take huge hurdles to change and little old me is not going to even dent the surface. I get that Microsoft touts this as not for production, but then I suspect they also want real-world use like I am doing every single day with this preview. Just feels like if I'm willing to gamble my daily use machine that they would want to try and help.

I'd be disappointed to have to move back to Windows 8.1, but this is going to turn into a huge roadblock for me. Disappointed 'insider' I am.

When installing Symantec Endpoint Protection on your Windows 10 computer, you may discover that the remote push, the MSI installer and the executable installer will not install. This is due to Windows Defender being turned on.

After, disabling the 'real time protection' the installer will work. ( I haven't tested the other methods but I can confirm that the.exe method of installation works after applying this fix.) This is rather an annoying problem because the fix isn't listed on the Symatec Support page or anywhere noticeable on Google. The only reason I discovered this fix was due to seeing a similar issue with Windows 8. That is a strange one, as I've installed SEP on a few Windows 10 machines without any issues (including mine), but have just had this issue on a couple of machines. Have created a GPO that disables Defender now, so once the machine joins the domain, should solve the problem.

For the record I used these settings: 'Computer - Policies - Admin Templates - Windows Components - Windows Defender' and then 'Turn off Windows Defender' and 'Computer - Policies - Admin Templates - Windows Components - Windows Defender - Real-Time Protection' and then 'Turn off real-time protection' •.
